The book was amazing! I don't know how I'm going to wait for the sequel. The narrator however needs to change. This is one best book read this year never saw what was coming can't wait for the next book. The ending is what sealed it for me! I can't wait for book 2. My new boyfriend Miller Hart. Book Rating Duration: 15 hours 30 minutes. Similar Titles. Reviews Cindy Gatewood. Shellley Schroh. The door is held open for me, and I slip in, immediately noticing a huge spray of fresh flowers on the round table. I recognise it. My mind starts racing. Miller returns, his waistcoat and tie removed, his collar unbuttoned. He pours some dark liquid into a tumbler, and I notice the label this time. He takes a seat on the coffee table in front of me again and sips slowly, but then he almost frowns at the glass before tipping the neat alcohol down his throat and placing the glass on the table.

As I knew he would, he tweaks the position then clasps his hands together, looking at me thoughtfully.

See a Problem?

You know what they say - there's a fine line between love and hate. And I'm walking it. Mostly I hate Chase Jett. It's been 10 years since he took my virginity - I'd make a bratwurst joke, but the unfortunate truth is that it would have to be a brat-best joke, and yes, it kills me to admit that - and now he's not only a billionaire, he's also my new boss. With danger lurking around every corner and my life turned upside down, I struggle with who to believe and who to trust.

Or are the memories simply an illusion? The new breathtaking novel from the number-one New York Times best-selling author of the This Man trilogy.

One Night: Promised

Livy notices him the moment he walks into the coffee shop. He's heart-stoppingly stunning, with a blue-eyed gaze so piercing she's almost too distracted to take his order. When he walks out the door, she thinks she'll never see him again. Then she finds the note he left on his napkin - signed M. All he wants is one night to worship her.

No feelings, no commitment, nothing but pleasure. Every defense mechanism Livy has adopted during her solitary life is at risk of being obliterated by this confounding man. He's obnoxious but well-mannered. He's a gentleman but aloof. He's passionate but emotionless.

Yet the fascination is so powerful, Livy can't deny him - or herself. M awakens something in Livy, something deep and addictive that she never knew existed - and that she fears only he can satisfy. But she senses that behind the fast cars, fancy suits, and posh apartment, he's aching inside. To have him, body and soul, she'll have to brave his dark secrets.

Delving into his world and breaking down his defenses become her obsession - an obsession that could shatter her heart beyond repair. What can I say about this book? I could not put it down!!!. It was a wonderful read. It was funny, it was charming, there was suspense but yet intrigue. I don't enough words to explain this book. It was more than exquisite!. It was classy, but still relate-able; shocking and very unexpected in so many ways. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I love this author, and the narrator definitely brought something extra to the book. I think I have found a new author to follow. When you have the combination of a vivid writer such as Jodi Ellen Malpas, paired with the talented narration of Edita Brychta, it is a feast for the senses, the heart, and the mind, as the story is told in such a magnificent way! Thankfully, Malpas has gifted readers with what seems to be another fantastic trilogy! Malpas can continue writing a thousand variations, and I'd be in bliss Jessie Cloud 9, or something similar-kind of bliss Yet, it's important to emphasize that even though the style of writing in this book is vintage Malpas, Livy and 'M's" romance catapults into their own unique story that will dazzle and keep readers intrigued.

I found Livy to be a very likable female lead, and her need to live and care for her grandmother added a special aspect to this story. I also enjoyed Livy's friends, who although are limited, are fun and very protective of her. Now Mr. Livy and "M" have instant die-hard attraction for one another. The love scenes are steamy, and packed with longevity and stamina I loved that he was able to come to the point where he could acknowledge a need for Livy that was powerful and pushed him to pursue her relentlessly well, nowhere near Jessie Ward-stalker style, but still pretty relentless.

I loved how "M" felt that his relationship with Livy was worth fighting for. But, alas this book doesn't end well, and I blame Livy for that one. I think she did wrong, and that makes the wait for the release of the next book even more excruciating!!!!! There are devastating revelations about both Livy and "M's" history, but Livy didn't accept "M's" history as well as he accepted hers. Right when things were going to well for both Livy and M!!!!!

This storyline may have been well constructed, but the emotionally abusive dynamic in this story was absolutely awful. I found myself at times wanting to scream at Livy to run away, because great sex doesn't make up for being a prisoner. After JEM's This Man trilogy I thought we'd seen the best of her imaginative, emotion filled, erotic and twisted love stories but this, phew, this was a very highly charged ride through the attraction and passion of two mentally tortured people's lives and the people who surround them.

And, as their lives both inevitably entwine, the listener is gifted with troubled waters of secrets, insecurities, drama, obsession, heartache, more secrets, revelations, suspense and lots and lots of intrigue. No words can describe just how emotional this book is as it's flawed characters are loveable in their own way and very needy of each other but the many twists that fate deals them can result in only one thing And that's how I felt at the end of the raw bitter cliffhanger, an open mouthed shocked gasp as yet another twist was oh so cleverly tossed in.

Worth the credit? I am writing this Review knowing I'm going to be late for a shopping trip with a friend but I just had to get my words and feelings out about this listen whose character's lives has only let me get about 2 hours sleep because I didn't want to stop the intense mystery with a destination unknown, damaged characters and a deep unhealthy, yet compelling, love story. I would have gladly used two credits on this listen, so YES very creditworthy and, if book 2 is out in print, I'm even considering READING, yes actually reading it, because the storyline and characters are just that gripping.

If you get this listen be prepared to become a Malpas groupie and what a great team she, and Edita Brychta made. The story was a bit slow moving, and it was difficult to fall into. The narrator sounded much older and too proper. Her voice conflicted with the age of the characters and modern story line. I deleted all from my wish list. What do you think your next listen will be? Currently listening to The Resistance by S. How could the performance have been better? I have no idea.. What reaction did this book spark in you?

Anger, sadness, disappointment?
